A Tory Brexit threatens local jobs, our rights and security for people in Lewisham East

The diversity of Lewisham East is our strength. This Tory government has created a scandal which shames our country. They brought in a “hostile environment” for immigrants which has unforgivably targeted the Windrush Generation and their families.

They came because we invited them and they helped us rebuild the country after the war, it is disgusting that they have been treated in this way.

Added to the Tory chaos over Brexit, people now face uncertainty over their futures and want to be sure that their rights are secure.

But the Tories are pressing on with their damaging and extreme Brexit plans and ignoring all advice to put people and jobs first.

I will fight to ensure Lewisham East is a welcoming place for all our residents and will stand up for the rights of EU citizens and others who have made this country their home.

I want make sure we can continue to work with the EU on issues like climate change, security and scientific research.

I will play my part in ensuring a continued close relationship with Europe because I believe that is in the best interests of the people of Lewisham East.
