Together, we saved our local hospital but our NHS is still at risk

The Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives tried to close our hospital when they were in power together. This was part of their toxic cuts agenda which the Tory Government continues to this day. It’s only because of an amazing campaign by local residents and the Labour Party that the hospital remained open.

But under the Tories our NHS is in crisis. Hospitals are understaffed and overworked as budgets are pushed to the limit.

Last month more than 3000 people had to wait over four hours to be seen in Lewisham A&E. It is getting harder to see a GP, one in five people in Lewisham wait over a week.

Only Labour will stand up for our NHS. We will stand with the community to protect Lewisham hospital from extreme Tory cuts.

A Labour government will put £30 billion into our NHS so that hospitals can keep up with demand.

It is the 70th anniversary of our NHS and we are proud to celebrate the hard work of all our NHS staff. But our NHS is still at risk, let’s stick together to protect it.
